Spent the weekend taking photos at the Telford Junior Ice Hockey Tournament along with fellow photographer Jon Watkins. We set up a mobile studio to record team photos and once these were complete to photograph individual player portraits and familys as well. While Jon concentrated at that side are got stuck into photgraphing the games. I managed to get the camera and lens into a 'sweet' spot and after printing out a few images straight from the camera, little or no work will be required for any orders taken. This was the last event at the rink before its major refurb over the summer and I have just got all the settings working together!

After Careful consideration, I have decided to join the Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers and also the Society of International Sports & Leisure. I now hope to work towards Licentiateship with both organisations, building on my expertise in sports and wedding photography. Maybe a short or long process, but will not find out until my work has been scrutinised by the mentor program but I am looking forward to the challenge.

Telford Tigers fought back to a well deserved win after losing heavily to Guildford Flames (9-1) only 24hrs earlier in Guildford.Tigers were in control for most of the game With the Flames coming back strong to tie up the score in the dying minutes of regulation time at 4-4.
The deadlock could not be broken in the 5 minute sudden death overtime period, so it was down to the luck of a penalty shootout.

A good sized home crowd saw the Tigers penalty takers; Scott Mckenzie, Juraj Senko and Marek Hornak all finding the back of the Guildford net, whilst at the other end of the rink Tigers netminder and man of the match Dec Ryan Denied the Guildford shooters from converting on two shots to give the Tigers a very well deserved victory.

<![CDATA[Admaston Juniors Semi Final Cup match]]>Tue, 31 Jan 2012 12:59:53 -0800http://www.brodiephoto.co.uk/1/post/2012/01/post-title-click-and-type-to-edit.htmlBit of a Cold day on Sunday to be out taking football photos, but Admaston Juniors U9 team were in a semi final cup match against Woodside so needs must.
The game was played at Admastons home ground on Ringers way with the Kick off at 11am by Admastons Captain for the day Josh Brodie. Admaston took the Vicory 3-1,but not before Woodside had a chance to tie the game 2-2 in the last few minutes with a penalty shot, which went just wide of the Admaston net. The game was sealed in the dying minutes with a pass from Joel Corfield finishing in a strike from Elliot Bradshaw into the back of the woodside net.
Both teams gave there all in a very good display of youth football.]]>

Sunday night was the debut of the Telford Tigers winter strip, reminiscent of the 'Winter Classic' Strips worn by the NHL teams who compete in the match of the same name. Blue shirts with snowflakes and letters capped off in 'snow'

Interesting game last night as Telford took on the current U20 GB team; quite a few familiar faces on the GB squad with current tigers; Callum Bowley,Dec Ryan, Thomas Soar, Luke Brittle along with ex tigers Dan Scott and Jack Watkins on the ice and Telford Tigers coach Tom Watkins coaching the GB side.

The result was never in doubt, but the way the 'new' boys stepped up to replace the missing tigers was very impressive.

Guys were there to help Frankie & Benny's raise money for Children in Need 2011. They had a shooting net setup outside and later in the evening Scott was MC for the auction of a Pudsy Bear cake, followed by the guys having a pizza eating competition. Adam raced off, but thought it was only half a pizza, eventual winner was Dec, closly follwed by tom, Scott dumped his tomotoes, and poor Adam cam in last, another case of the hare and the tortoise. ]]><![CDATA[Dead Flashgun]]>Fri, 18 Nov 2011 07:22:32 -0800http://www.brodiephoto.co.uk/1/post/2011/11/dead-flashgun.htmlAfter Wednesdys hockey match, i set the camera up with the Nikon SB600 Speedlight, but nothing happened so had to abandon its use and ramp up the iso instead. Looking at it later, the test button does fire the tube, but it seems to be cracked so all you get is a little flicker of light in the corner. Looking on the net a Nikon repair will cost £100 plus. You can fix it yourself but risk the chance of death, not a good move. By good fortune a friends dad will be able to fix the unit, so part has now been ordered from the states for $17. ]]>
